I Deserved Better

As I was making new pages for Mother’s Day this year, I asked for inspiration from some of my writer friends.

This piece by Jennifer Pers describes the complicated and painful relationship so many people have with their mothers. It’s beautiful and you should read it, especially if your relationship with your own mother is confusing and hard.

I wanted to make a page especially for you. And I didn’t want to put it with the happy, celebratory Mother’s Day pages because while it’s wonderful to celebrate moms, that probably isn’t what you want to do on that day.

Maybe you want to ignore it all together - that’s perfectly fine. Maybe you want to reflect on your relationship with you mom — if you do, maybe this page will help.

Coloring while reflecting/meditating can be a healing act and if this page is true for you, maybe you can make use of it.

I’m sorry your mother was hard, or complicated, or confusing, or abusive, or all of those things. I’m sorry. You deserved better.
